MMA’s first public show in City after revival today

LAHORE: The leadership of recently revived Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) is all set to make a show of public power at historic Minar-e-Pakistan on Sunday (today).In its first public meeting in the provincial metropolis, the alliance leadership is confident that it will be a replay of its lost glory of 2002.As all heads of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal component parties gathered at Mansoorah Saturday night for review of arrangements of public meeting under the chairmanship of President Maulana Fazlur Rehman. They expressed their hope that religious alliance would bring in the much-needed clean and able leadership to fill the vacuum of leadership in the country’s politics, and take the nation into an era of prosperity after emerging victorious in the upcoming elections.Talking to the media, Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Senator Sirajul Haq said the primary objective of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal was to snatch country’s politics from feudal lords and capitalists and transfer it to the poor masses.They said masses had been deprived of their basic needs for the last seven decades.They said the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal pubic meeting at Minar-e-Pakistan would be a historic gathering. It would decide the future line of action of the religious alliance for the upcoming elections.They expressed confidence that the MMA would inflict a clear defeat on the opponents in the elections.Sirajul Haq said the callous conduct and autocratic style of the political parties ruling the country for the last two decades was before the masses.He said none of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal leaders was wanted by NAB or accused of corruption.Earlier, addressing a press conference at Minar-e-Pakistan after finalising the arrangements for the public meeting, Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal Secretary General Liaqat Baloch said Sunday’s public meeting of Islam-lovers would change the course of country’s history. He said the MMA would strictly abide by the Constitution and the law of the land.He said the MMA would give full representation to womenfolk in accordance with the directive of the Election Commission.MMA President Maulana Fazlur Rehman, SenatorSirajul Haq, Prof Sajid Mir, Pir Ejaz Hashmi, Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi, Maulana Abdul Ghaffoor Haideri, Shah Awais Noorani, Allama Arif Wahidi, Hafiz Ebtisam Elahi Zaheer, Mian Maqsood and others have reached the provincial metropolis to address the public meeting.
