SIUT's Dr Adib Rizvi spends three days in ICU, 'feeling better now'

Dr Adibul Hasan Rizvi, who heads the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT), was shifted out of the intensive care unit (ICU) at SIUT after spending three days there.

SIUT’s spokesperson said the septuagenarian surgeon was under observation in the ICU due to influenza and chest infection. He added that there was no cause for alarm as Dr Rizvi is being shifted to a room at the hospital.

Dr Rizvi, 79, is the founder and chief of SIUT, a state-run hospital renowned for providing free dialysis and organ transplantation services to over a million patients annually.

Dr Rizvi is considered among Karachi’s leading surgeons. He is widely respected for his work and SIUT has been hailed as a model for developing countries.
