ECP to examine PTI’s funding details

ECP Adjourns Hearing of PTI Funding Case till October 21
Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has sought reply from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf over the questions raised by petitioner Akbar S. Baber in the foreign funding case.

A four-member bench of ECP headed by Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retd) Sardar Raza Khan heard foreign funding case filed against PTI by one of its founding members Akbar S Baber.

Senior PTI counsel Anwar Mansoor Khan did not appear before the Commission due to illness. However, junior counsel Saqlian Haider and petitioner counsel Ahmed Hassan appeared before the court.

The CEC asked the PTI counsel what was the new development about party funding of PTI.

PTI counsel took the plea that Islamabad High Court had issued restraining order regarding the party funding case. Upon this, the CEC said that IHC had directed PTI to submit the details of party funding in ECP.

He added that the Commission would go through the details of party funding PTI has submitted. The CEC said that the IHC had just issue the instructions to ECP not to share the details of party funding details with anyone.

The Commission adjourned hearing of the case till October 21.
